What went well: I think editing and the shots we got were good. Also the acting in the clips is good and well done. I think the props we used are accurate and make the intro more like the original.
What was hard: Organising the shots so that they were identicall to the orriginal was really hard to do as we do not have all the props they used at our disposel.
If we did this again is would use something to make the tracking shots more smooth and steady. This would improve the overall quality of the intro and would make it better.

Mis en Scene.

The main settings throughout the trailer are the various ships that the Pirates and Navy are on. Each ship has unique characteristics to make them easily distinguishable and likable. Another big setting is Port Royal. This is used to create stark contrasts between the bright city and the darkness of the Black Pearl.
Costume , hair and makeup are used constantly in the trailer to help the audience believe that the world you are watching is real. The costume are accurate to the time period  the trailer is set in and are used effectively to show the harshness of the pirates. Also makeup is used heavily to show the pirates in there ghost form. This is done very well as the skin disappears and the bones are revealed. The detail in the costume and makeup make the film and trailer more believable.
Facial expressions and body language is used to show the meaness of the pirates. The pirates walk harshly and always have angry expressions on there face. This shows them as greedy and evil people who only want the gold they search for.
Lighting is changed from dark to light often to make and easy comparisons from the pirates and the normal town. The ship will mostly be dark and the town mostly light. Then when the town is attacked the lighting is dark and this helps add to the feeling that the town is lost to the darkness of the pirates.
At 55 seconds through the trailer the props and people used are position carefully to get the desired affect. With the soldiers behind on the high walls it make it look like Jack is surrounded by the power of the navy. With the noose just next to him it also makes it looks like he faces almost certain death. All of this adds up to make his escape look even more spectacular and great.

The Hobbit opening scene analysis.

What/Who is being represented?
The Dwarven city of Dale is being represented through this scene.

How is it being represented?
It is represented as a nice and pleasant city. Then it gets attacked by a dragon.

Representation.
It is made to seem real and true with the extensive props and detail put into even the smallest of shots. The costumes are believable and the CGI used looks realistic. This coupled with the acting make the scene look believable and real. The city is in the foreground of the majority of the shots with the mountain and ocasionaly the dragon in the background. I dont think that dyers theory is relavent here as none os the sterotypes used ,such as dwarves with big long beards, occur in real life.It is the representation of the Dwarf people as you see there city being destroyed you feel sorry fpr them and suppport there side of the story. People understand that this is a bad scene because of the threatining music and the screams hered throug the opening scenes. I think in this scene some of the time you are made to look though the eyes of the male soilders on the walls of the city. Seimiotics are used throughout the scece. The city is full of vibrant colour and happy people to make people think that the city is very happy and neverreally hurts anyone. This makes the viewer feel even more sorry for the city when it gets destroyed. Semitotics such as the shine from the swords and the bright colours of the gold and flames give th idea that this is a fanatsy film and sets the tone for the rest of the film. Barthes theory agress with this trailer as at the start of the trailer the village looks very bright and almost angelic. This helps us to feel even more sorry for the village when it gets atacked by the dragon.

RJ Production Logo.

This is the logo for my Production company.
RJ Productions.

The Buzzsaw was used becuase this is a horror production company. The red is the colour of blood so it will make people think of horror films. I think the red also stands out against the dark colours of the background, this will make it more memorable and stand out.

Representation theory's.

The male gaze theory. Laura Mulvey invented he male gaze theory. The male gaze theory states that the audience, weather they are male or female have to look at things in films through the eyes of men. An example of this would be James Bond girls. Everyone in the audience is meant to see them as very attractive and sexy.

The Bechdel test is a test that can be applied to film. For the film to pass it has to pass three simple criteria.
1) It has to have at least two named women in it.
2) These two named women will have to have a conversation in it.
3) This conversation as to be about something other than men.

Richard Dyer as a theory that stereotypes come down to power. Dyer argues that how people are seen in the media affects how they are treated in real life by society.

The magazine is showing the big picture of Beyonce to appeal to women. They also only have articles on the front about losing weight and how to cook meals in minutes. The picture of Beyonce could be what alot of women of women want to look like. This would appeal to women and make them want to buy the magazine. They have gone for what alot of women do which is cook. They want to appeal to a mass market and n the whole women cook more than men. Also women care alot more about what they look like so the weight loss articles will appeal to people as well.Beyonce is on the front of this magazine and she is showing of her legs. This may make the magazine appeal to some men and could spread the magazine to a wider audience. The colours of pink is the main colour on the page. This makes it very obvious that it is aimed at women before even reading the words. Also Beyonce is wearing a very fashionable top which makes her look very fashionable and would make more people want to look like her.

This is the film poster for The Dark Knight. it focuses on the new villain the Joker. The fog surrounds him in mystery and secrets. This makes the viewer want to see the film to find out what the character is about and what he will do in Gotham City. The bright red colours of the writing and lipstick use semiotics to make people link the character to evil. So without even seeing the film you no that he will be the villain and is evil. The writing 'Why so Serious ?' is the main catchphrase of the Joker. This enables the viewer to know something about the character before they have even seen the film. When they do see it they will be able to link the catch phrase to the character. The actual title of the film is written small at the bottom of the poster. The makers of the film are trusting that the bright colours and intrigue of the poster will draw you in so then you will take the time to find out what the film is called.
The buildings in the background tell us that the film is set in Gotham city. This is also covered by the fog and mystery so that people will want to know what happens and will want to see the film.

 As Media film presentation.

As media film presentation. from Richard_Jarrold

This is the presentation i used to advertise the Film we created. We were given a genre and a target audience to make a film for. I was given Teens as a target audience and  gritty, realism and social as a genre. For inspiration we used programes and films such as Skins and Kidulthood. The film was about the lives and struggles about 3 teens on an estate. The main theme of this film was the relationship between the three main characters and the estate they live on. Drugs, alchoholism and school are also main points withing the film.

Comments about my film.

Title: 'Relavent' , 'Clever' , 'Interesting and Good'.

Characters and cast: 'Appropriate' , 'Mainly teen actors which is relavent with the genre.'

Interest for the audience: 'Very relavent and suitable'.

Does the narrative fit the Genre?: 'Mostly, needs work'.

Is the film different: 'Yes as its storyline hasn't been done before'.

Image Analysis.

For this task we were given were given a genre and a target audience and we had to take pictures that fit into both.

For the first picture we tried to show that the couple were in love but the girls friends was very jealous. I think this image portrays this well and it is clear what we wanted to show. It also fits the genre well as teen girls would like this kind of story. I think if we could take the picture again i would like the building to be straight in the background. This would help to split up the image and make it look more harsh to show tension.
In the second picture to the right we wanted to show that the friend back stabbed her friend and broke up the couple without the girl knowing. Again in this picture the building in not straight in the image. If we took this again i would like the building to be straight in the background of the image. I W9oulod add semiotics to the photo but also it would make the image look better all together.

This is the opening scene in the film Casino Royale. This opening chase was perfect for the intro of this film as it was harsh and gritty compared to the usual James Bond chase. The parkour and freeruning introduce Daniel Craig as the new James Bond. The intro is set on and around a Madagascan building site. It is the middle of the day when it is very bright and light. The themes in Casino Royale are survival and patriotism. The main icons in the chase are the guns that James Bond and the bomber use. There are far less icons in this cahse than would be seen in the usual James Bond chase as for this film he was striped of all is gadgets. The main narrative throughout the film is following the story of James Bond. In terms of characters for the chase there are only 2 that are central to the chase and actually named. the rest are an assortment of builders and arcitects. James Bond is obviously the main characters and he is portrayed by Daniel Craig. Alot of sky shots were used to film this scene. Also alot of close up eye level camera shots were used to show us the fights through James Bond's eyes.
