What went well?
The music choices was very good. It suited the party atmosphere well and went well with the dancing. The party looks realistic and the dancing did not look faked. When the girl did collapse it looks very realistic and the frothing looks very realistic.
Improvements. I think the into could have been longer with maybe an ambulance coming and a more dramatic music towards the end. This is the only problem that i could find with this play.
A title sequence is the method by which cinematic films or television programs present their title, key production and cast members. The function of a title sequence is to introduce the film and to give the audience information about the cast members in the film and the people behind it.

Title Sequences.
Sherlock Holmes.
T3: 4 seconds. White text on a
black background.
T4: 5 seconds . White text on a black background.

T5
4 seconds. Black text on a white background.
T6. 3 seconds. Black text on a
white background.

T7. 2 seconds. White text on a black background.

T8. 2 seconds. Black text on a white background.

T9. 2 seconds. Black text on a white background.
T10. 2 seconds. Shows the main character and the actor.
T11. 4 seconds. Show the title of the film. The camera work
in these titles sequences is good. Along with the editing (when the motion
stops) it creates a good mood for the film. There are a variety of different
angles in sequence and it is a big success.

Sweeny Todd.
T2: 3 seconds. Show names of main characters actor.
T3:3 seconds. Show name of supporting actor.
T4: 3 seconds. Show name of supporting actor.
T5: 4 seconds. Shows title of the film. In this opening scene the camera moves very slowy and this gives the feeling that the people involved are very relaxed about what they are doing. (Which is murder). This sets a good mood for the films. Editing is used to give it the cartoon look which makes it all seem a bit unreal.

T2: 3 seconds. Shows the main characters actor.

T3: 3 seconds. White text and font is standard throughout entire opening sequence.
T4: 4 seconds. Show the title of the film. This si only time that the font used in the title is different. This makes the title of the films stand out more.
T7. 3 seconds. Text is placed at different places on the screen deepening on what is happening in the scene.
T8. 3 secponds. As shown I the difference between T7 and T8 the text moves depening on what is on screen.

The Art of the Title.
A title sequence is a tool/method by which films or
television shows introduce the show/film and credit key members of the tram
such as director and producer.
The function of a title sequence is to show key people who
worked on the film, such as actors, directors and producers. It can also be
used to set the mood of the film.
Three films in the ‘A brief history of the art of the title’
are: The pink panther, Sherlock Holmes and Catch me if you can.

The text used in the opening sequence looks like it has been
hand written by someone. This makes the viewer think that it is Sherlock’s
handwriting. Also the images used looks old and this makes it seem as if the
films is set in the 1800’s which it is.
Also the music used is upbeat and bouncy which is the same as Sherlock’s
personality. This shows the mood and feelings of Sherlock and the entire film.
It is stylish but a little bit crazy.
The Text and imagery used lets the viewer know that the films
is set in 1800’s. This is good because the viewer already feels as though they
know something about the film when they start watching the film. Also the music
adds to the mood of the film by being old fashioned but stylish.
Catch me if you can title sequence.

In the Catch me if you can title sequence the text helps to
tell the story in the intro. The text moves and reacts to the environment it is
in. The title shows Leonardo Dicaprio’s character changing into different
identity’s so who he is in an airport the word ‘me’ changes into an aeroplane.
This gives the feeling that the main character will used the things around him
to escape from Tom Hank’s character. This sets the mood for the film as the
characters in the opening sequence are constantly running/chasing each other.
The music in the opening sequence is little noises that
suggest a chase. It also builds up tension and adds to the mood set by this
opening sequence.
Richard Morrison opening sequences.
Sweeney Todd. The text in this
comes up around the machinery and blood of the intro to introduce key people in
the films. The text is all white this is good because this meant that the only
colour on the sequence is the red of the blood. This makes the blood stand out
more and tells the viewer what the film is going to be about. The music used is
high pitch noises which makes me think of blades and scary films. This is good
because this is what the film is. The music is not to loud though so it does
not take your attention away from the blood that is shown on screen. This draws
attention in even more to the opening scene of the film. There is not a lot
going on in each shot, this is good because you then look at the names that
come up instead of just ignoring then.
Batman.
This opening sequence really
focuses on the text and the music. There is not a lot going on in these scenes
but at the end the whole thing comes together to show you the batman logo. This
is good as the music is very dramatic and the text is big and bold. The text is
the yellow on black colour of Batman with the black being what is happening in
the back ground. By not being able to see a lot the viewer would start to guess
what is happening in the scene. But Batman is about moving in shadows and not
being scene so this sets the mood for the films well. The music used is very
good and suits this Batman very well. It has become the iconic batman music and
is used alongside the comics now. This makes up for not a lot happening on
screen so the viewer does not get bored.
Richard Morrison said for the Sweeny
Todd title sequence making the blood look realistic was the hardest part and they
had to imitate it and then film it. He then went on to say how it was a dream
project and would love to work on someone thing this again. He says this was a
very successful title sequence.
For the Batman title sequence
Richard Morrison said that he wanted to makes the opening sequence a 360 degree
move and wanted to makes a landscape using the iconic batman logo. He said this
all came together and the opening sequenced was what he aimed for and wanted.

This is the opening scene from Hurtlocker. The Mis En Scene for this film is very accurate to what it would really be like in Afganistan. The cutume are very realistic and look exactly like army uniniforms. The bomb suits that they have used also look alot like the real ones used by the army. The setting is a small city in AFganistan. The buildings and areas look like what you would expect Afganistan to look like. ALl of this adds up to make the entire scene very believable and thrilling. The lighting is very light and it looks like normal sunlight. It is sometiumes brigter to show the heat of the day and the heat the soilders have to deal with. Some of the camera shots used are very good as they show you the view from the soilders helmets. This is a very good technique for giving us the POV opf the siolders. It also helps us to believe that there situation is real. The sound is good for this scene as the onbly sounds used are souns that the soilders would actually hear. Breathing is used as a sound to make the scnee sound intense when there breatheing is hard. Also shrill, sharp noises such as the explosion make the scene very shocking. THis affects tha audience and sets a dark tone for the rest of the film. It also makes you think about the real experiences of soilders in that situation. This is the opening scene from the film Monsters Inc. Mis en scene is used is this scene to show us what the film will be about in 1.30 minutes. The monsters are shown at the start as very scary but then it turns out they are just doing a job and are sometimes not very good at that job at all. The lighting of the room is dark when it is scary and light when it is funny. This helps add to the feeling that the monstewrs have two personalitys the scary side and the normal side. THe Bedroom is made to look like a normal 7 year olds bedroom. The twos and colours used show up in the dark to make us feel sorry for the child. Sounds is used to add tension to the scary part of the opening scene. Sharp noises are used to build up the tension when the monster is about to scare the child. Once the monster fails the sound changes to more funny happy sounds. There are many camera shots used in this opening scene. High angle and POV shots are used to show us the point of view of the child who is laying in the bed. Its shows clearly what he thinks to be a monster in the wardrobe but then it turns out the monster is under the bed. Low angle shots are then used to show the whole roome while the monsters is creeeping up on the childs bed. All of this adds tension before the tension is smashed by the monster being scared by the child. This is the opening scene from Titanic. In thiscene Titanic is leaving the port and is starting its journy. This is a very ironic scne as everyone is very happy when in fact they are travelling towards there deaths. In the scene CGI is used to show the huge scale of the ship and the amnount of people on the ships. Costumes are used very carefully to show the clear class divide between people who are on the ship. This makes the viewer think more baout the people who are getting on the ship instead of just watching them and not really thinking about what kind of backgrounds they have. Very happy and uplifting music is used in the scene to emphasise the scaale of this occasion and how happy everyone is. This is veey effective because the viewer all know that the ship is going to sink and the people in the scene do not. The effect of this makes people feal very sad about what will inveitably happen in the film.

Camera shots. FAM. Frame, Angle, Movement.
Frame - This is how close or far the image is in the shot.
Angle - Birdseye, high, level, low.
Movement - This is the way that the camera moves around the object it is filming.
Examples of different cameras shots and angles.
This is an example of a close up. It shows the upper body of the man and not manu things around him. You could also have close ups of any object. This is an extra wide shot. It shows the city landscape, fitting many buildings into one frame. The camera then zooms into one of the buildings to show the panning long shot below.
This is a high angle shot from just above the head of one of the vilians. This gives us a good view of what the man is doing and the view out of the window.
The is a mid-long shot of a building. it shows the refelection of the building. It also doesnt let you see into the buildings so you cant see the robbers inside the buldings.
This shows a mid shot of the Joker.

What went well: I think editing and the shots we got were good. Also the acting in the clips is good and well done. I think the props we used are accurate and make the intro more like the original.
What was hard: Organising the shots so that they were identicall to the orriginal was really hard to do as we do not have all the props they used at our disposel.
If we did this again is would use something to make the tracking shots more smooth and steady. This would improve the overall quality of the intro and would make it better.
Mis en Scene.
The main settings throughout the trailer are the various ships that the Pirates and Navy are on. Each ship has unique characteristics to make them easily distinguishable and likable. Another big setting is Port Royal. This is used to create stark contrasts between the bright city and the darkness of the Black Pearl.Costume , hair and makeup are used constantly in the trailer to help the audience believe that the world you are watching is real. The costume are accurate to the time period the trailer is set in and are used effectively to show the harshness of the pirates. Also makeup is used heavily to show the pirates in there ghost form. This is done very well as the skin disappears and the bones are revealed. The detail in the costume and makeup make the film and trailer more believable.
Facial expressions and body language is used to show the meaness of the pirates. The pirates walk harshly and always have angry expressions on there face. This shows them as greedy and evil people who only want the gold they search for.
Lighting is changed from dark to light often to make and easy comparisons from the pirates and the normal town. The ship will mostly be dark and the town mostly light. Then when the town is attacked the lighting is dark and this helps add to the feeling that the town is lost to the darkness of the pirates.
At 55 seconds through the trailer the props and people used are position carefully to get the desired affect. With the soldiers behind on the high walls it make it look like Jack is surrounded by the power of the navy. With the noose just next to him it also makes it looks like he faces almost certain death. All of this adds up to make his escape look even more spectacular and great.

The Hobbit opening scene analysis.
What/Who is being represented? The Dwarven city of Dale is being represented through this scene.
How is it being represented?
It is represented as a nice and pleasant city. Then it gets attacked by a dragon.
Representation.
It is made to seem real and true with the extensive props and detail put into even the smallest of shots. The costumes are believable and the CGI used looks realistic. This coupled with the acting make the scene look believable and real. The city is in the foreground of the majority of the shots with the mountain and ocasionaly the dragon in the background. I dont think that dyers theory is relavent here as none os the sterotypes used ,such as dwarves with big long beards, occur in real life.It is the representation of the Dwarf people as you see there city being destroyed you feel sorry fpr them and suppport there side of the story. People understand that this is a bad scene because of the threatining music and the screams hered throug the opening scenes. I think in this scene some of the time you are made to look though the eyes of the male soilders on the walls of the city. Seimiotics are used throughout the scece. The city is full of vibrant colour and happy people to make people think that the city is very happy and neverreally hurts anyone. This makes the viewer feel even more sorry for the city when it gets destroyed. Semitotics such as the shine from the swords and the bright colours of the gold and flames give th idea that this is a fanatsy film and sets the tone for the rest of the film. Barthes theory agress with this trailer as at the start of the trailer the village looks very bright and almost angelic. This helps us to feel even more sorry for the village when it gets atacked by the dragon.

Representation theory's.
The male gaze theory. Laura Mulvey invented he male gaze theory. The male gaze theory states that the audience, weather they are male or female have to look at things in films through the eyes of men. An example of this would be James Bond girls. Everyone in the audience is meant to see them as very attractive and sexy.
The Bechdel test is a test that can be applied to film. For the film to pass it has to pass three simple criteria.
1) It has to have at least two named women in it.
2) These two named women will have to have a conversation in it.
3) This conversation as to be about something other than men.
Richard Dyer as a theory that stereotypes come down to power. Dyer argues that how people are seen in the media affects how they are treated in real life by society.
