This is the opening scene from Hurtlocker. The Mis En Scene for this film is very accurate to what it would really be like in Afganistan. The cutume are very realistic and look exactly like army uniniforms. The bomb suits that they have used also look alot like the real ones used by the army. The setting is a small city in AFganistan. The buildings and areas look like what you would expect Afganistan to look like. ALl of this adds up to make the entire scene very believable and thrilling. The lighting is very light and it looks like normal sunlight. It is sometiumes brigter to show the heat of the day and the heat the soilders have to deal with. Some of the camera shots used are very good as they show you the view from the soilders helmets. This is a very good technique for giving us the POV opf the siolders. It also helps us to believe that there situation is real. The sound is good for this scene as the onbly sounds used are souns that the soilders would actually hear. Breathing is used as a sound to make the scnee sound intense when there breatheing is hard. Also shrill, sharp noises such as the explosion make the scene very shocking. THis affects tha audience and sets a dark tone for the rest of the film. It also makes you think about the real experiences of soilders in that situation. This is the opening scene from the film Monsters Inc. Mis en scene is used is this scene to show us what the film will be about in 1.30 minutes. The monsters are shown at the start as very scary but then it turns out they are just doing a job and are sometimes not very good at that job at all. The lighting of the room is dark when it is scary and light when it is funny. This helps add to the feeling that the monstewrs have two personalitys the scary side and the normal side. THe Bedroom is made to look like a normal 7 year olds bedroom. The twos and colours used show up in the dark to make us feel sorry for the child. Sounds is used to add tension to the scary part of the opening scene. Sharp noises are used to build up the tension when the monster is about to scare the child. Once the monster fails the sound changes to more funny happy sounds. There are many camera shots used in this opening scene. High angle and POV shots are used to show us the point of view of the child who is laying in the bed. Its shows clearly what he thinks to be a monster in the wardrobe but then it turns out the monster is under the bed. Low angle shots are then used to show the whole roome while the monsters is creeeping up on the childs bed. All of this adds tension before the tension is smashed by the monster being scared by the child. This is the opening scene from Titanic. In thiscene Titanic is leaving the port and is starting its journy. This is a very ironic scne as everyone is very happy when in fact they are travelling towards there deaths. In the scene CGI is used to show the huge scale of the ship and the amnount of people on the ships. Costumes are used very carefully to show the clear class divide between people who are on the ship. This makes the viewer think more baout the people who are getting on the ship instead of just watching them and not really thinking about what kind of backgrounds they have. Very happy and uplifting music is used in the scene to emphasise the scaale of this occasion and how happy everyone is. This is veey effective because the viewer all know that the ship is going to sink and the people in the scene do not. The effect of this makes people feal very sad about what will inveitably happen in the film.

Camera shots. FAM. Frame, Angle, Movement.

Frame - This is how close or far the image is in the shot.
Angle - Birdseye, high, level, low.
Movement - This is the way that the camera moves around the object it is filming.

Examples of different cameras shots and angles.

This is an example of a close up. It shows the upper body of the man and not manu things around him. You could also have close ups of any object.
This is an extra wide shot. It shows the city landscape, fitting many buildings into one frame. The camera then zooms into one of the buildings to show the panning long shot below.
This is a high angle shot from just above the head of one of the vilians. This gives us a good view of what the man is doing and the view out of the window.
The is a mid-long shot of a building. it shows the refelection of the building. It also doesnt let you see into the buildings so you cant see the robbers inside the buldings.

This shows a mid shot of the Joker.
